The photography group exhibition "Boundaries of Selfhood" presented ten international artists in Arles, at the gallery A Space for Photography. Forming a part of the international photography festival: Les Rencontres d'Arles.

"Boundaries of Selfhood" was created by international artists whose work penetrates the complex layers of human connection, self-discovery, and cultural identity. Each navigates personal relationships, societal roles, and existential dilemmas.

Entrelacés / বিজড়িত is a project created with my partner, Sidharth Sircar, which translates to intertwined in our mother tongues, French and Bangla. The collaboration is presented by both artists under the name EILID.

Artist Statement:

Entrelacés / বিজড়িত - The story of two individuals intertwining their souls.

A journey through intimacy traversing individuality and togetherness.

A photographic discovery of a link between two beings. The project captures two humans,  initially strangers, who become family. A connection that penetrates deep into the soul.

Through our photographs, we open the dialogue about a deeper understanding of each other while going through life and its twists. A journey of knowing a being while discovering yourself. A person who becomes a life partner without limitations but with abundant support. Helping each other to be who we truly are. Defying gender roles and liberating themselves from its limitations.

A trust that develops slowly by finding who you are, without masks or pretending. A connection that roots, blossoms and expands unfolding layers.

It’s not always easy to confront your demons with someone else and be transparent about how they get to you. This pushes you to deal with them, sometimes uncomfortably, but strengthening your core with raw honesty and communication. Sharing moments that you wouldn’t want to show anyone.

Two individuals discovering each other, themselves and different dimensions of the being that continues to change forms throughout life. A permanence in its ever-changing environment.

The perspective changes from an internal one (both of our perceptions, individually and jointly) to an external one (viewer observing, us observing the relationship from an external eye) to perceive the different angles and experiences of a connection.

The change of state and chronology is incorporated to express the idea of eternal transformation.
